Synopsis

"Family Tree" follows the exploits of graduating Yale student Trevor Vincent; a well cared for adopted child, who has recently learned the identity of his real mother.  Although his adoptive parents have always taken good care of him, more with money than with time, the lure of meeting his real mother leads him to clandestinely arrange to track her down.

Immediately following his graduation he ditches his family, friends, and gold digging girlfriend and heads to rural Georgia to the county listed on his original birth certificate. He is looking for Margaret Callahan, the woman listed as the mother on his birth certificate.

What follows is a comedy of errors as he finds his mother along with the girl of his dreams, only to learn she’s his blood cousin by way of his natural mother. To make matters worth is he’s enraged the girl’s never say die ex-boyfriend, a complete simpleton whose father just happens to be the town’s sheriff.

The search for his mother becomes a quest for the name of his real father that leads him to getting arrested after a drunken fight with the sheriff’s son.

The story hits high gear with the arrival of his best friend from college and his gold digging girlfriend, and culminates in a hysterical trial, with the complete cast of characters, that fills in all the blanks.
